Daniel Miranda’s Road to the 2019 TCR Asian Driver’s Championship – Asia Motorsports Network

Overview

Miranda began his career in karting winning the  ROK Championship in 2013 claiming the Philippines Karter of the Year award.  He then spent several years competing in the Philippine Toyota Vios Cup before being crowned Total Excellium Super Sporting Class Champion in 2017.  In 2018 he raced for Eurasia in the Formula Renault Asia series capturing 3 podiums and finishing 4th overall in the series.  In 2019 Miranda competed in the TCR Asia Series for Eurasia Motorsport driving the Hyundai i30 N TCR winning the Asian Driver title.

2019 TCR Asia Results

Sepang International Circuit – Rd 1,2 (April 6 – 7)

The 2019 TCR Asian Championship opened their 5th season as a support race for GT World Challenge Asia with rounds 1 and 2 at Sepang International Circuit.  The 2018 Champion Luca Engstler picked up where he left off winning Rd 1, while Miranda finished 6th in a field crowded with more experienced drivers.  However in Rd 2 Miranda was able to showcase his potential and claimed his first podium in TCRA finishing 2nd.

 

Zhuhai International Circuit – Rd 3,4 (May 3 – 4)

For rounds 3 and 4 the series headed to Zhuhai International Circuit where the joined with the TCR China drivers. Once again Luca Engstler dominated claiming top of the podium finishes in both races.  Miranda faced a clutch issue at the beginning of round 3 that forced him to retire, but he came back ready to race in round 4 and secured his 2nd podium finish of the season finishing 3rd.

 

Shanghai International Circuit – Rd 5,6 (June 1 – 2)

The series headed North in China for rounds 5 and 6 with a stop at Shanghai International Circuit.

Zhejiang International Circuit – Rd 7,8 (July 5 – 7)

Bangsaen Street Circuit – Rd 9,10 (August 30 – September 1)
