It’s Official! The Thailand Super Series is Heading to Singapore as an F1 Support Race | Asia Motorsports Network
News first broke back in June that Formula One was in discussions with the Thailand Super Series to fill in as a support race for the 2022 Singapore Grand Prix. It seams with the ongoing restrictions in China, Porsche Carrera Cup Asia would not be able to make their regular appearance which left Formula One scrambling a bit. Thailand Super Series officials met with the Singapore Grand Prix organizers and were able to formally announce the deal during the Bangsaen Grand Prix at the beginning of July. This is tremendous news for the TSS as they finally get their chance to shine on the world stage after seeing Covid wipe away the Vietnam Grand Prix in 2020 where TSS was first scheduled to be a support race.
In related news, 2022 Thailand Super Series title sponsor B-Quik has signed Singapore’s hometown hero Yuey Tan to their B-Quik Absolute Racing team for this race. Yuey was a Porsche Carrera Cup Asia regular pre-Covid including winning the Pro Am title in 2015. It will be great to see him racing on the streets of Singapore again along side B-Quik’s star studded international line up of drivers.
